I first began using writing to explore the world of design as an architecture student
at The Ohio State University. Graduating in 1988 with a B.S. in architecture and
a minor in English literature, I moved to Seattle, and soon began to do freelance
work as a design journalist.
I had regular assignments with Seattle’s Daily Journal of Commerce, writing feature
stories and columns covering a wide range of architecture, engineering and construction
topics. Returning to Ohio in 1994, I continued to have regular feature articles
in trade publications and business magazines, and contributed to company and association
newsletters. I also became involved in projects utilizing newer media forms, such
as CD-ROMs, the Web, and, podcasts.
Most recently, I have performed contract assignments for marketing firms and served
as a contributing writer and editor for Buildpedia.com.
